<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe protective top coat<\/strong> is the layer most budget stickers skip entirely, and it’s the one doing the hardest work. It’s a clear shield over the print that absorbs UV before it reaches your colours and takes the abrasion that would otherwise scuff the ink \u2014 the brush during a wash, the bidon that rubs on the way in and out, the strap of a car rack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The pigment colour layer<\/strong> uses pigment rather than dye. Dye-based ink is cheaper and looks great initially, then fades noticeably within a season of sun. Pigment holds its colour far longer, which is why it’s what serious outdoor graphics are built on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The white base layer<\/strong> is what makes colours read true on a dark frame \u2014 more on that below, because it’s the single decision that most affects how your sticker actually looks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The film itself<\/strong> is a high-performance grade, not the budget kind. This is a genuinely important distinction and almost nobody explains it, so here it is: cheap adhesive film is under internal tension from the way it’s made. Left in the sun on a warm frame, it slowly tries to return to its original shape \u2014 it shrinks back from its own edges, lifts, and eventually cracks. Higher-grade film is formulated to stay dimensionally stable, so it stays exactly where you put it, year after year. It’s also thin and flexible enough to sit properly on a curved top tube without a raised edge for your fingernail \u2014 or a jet wash \u2014 to catch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The adhesive<\/strong> is engineered to do two contradictory things well: grip hard enough that the sticker never lifts on its own, and release cleanly when you deliberately decide to remove it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bikes are a genuinely hostile environment for adhesive graphics, in ways most people don’t stop to think about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Handled properly, none of this is a problem. Handled cheaply, all of it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We’ve been making these since 2012. Fourteen years, hundreds of thousands of packs, shipped to riders in just about every country you can name \u2014 that’s a lot of real-world testing we didn’t have to design ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And the most useful feedback has always come from the customers who used them somewhere we never planned for. The one we still tell people about: riders who put our stickers on scuba tanks<\/strong>. Fully submerged in salt water, over and over, for years. The film kept its integrity and the colours stayed true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Salt water at depth is a considerably harsher test than anything a bicycle will ever subject a sticker to. If it holds up to that, a wet commute and a bottle of degreaser aren’t going to be the thing that beats it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is the part most riders don’t know exists, and it’s the difference between a sticker that pops and one that disappears into your paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Printed film is transparent, and so is the ink printed on it. Whatever sits behind the sticker becomes its background. On a white or light frame that works beautifully \u2014 your own paint does the job of the white, and the design reads clean and sharp. On a black, dark grey, matte or raw carbon frame there is nothing bright behind the colour, so the design sinks into the paint and all but disappears. A flag next to it is smaller \u2014 and some flags carry genuinely intricate detail: crests, fine stripes, small emblems. Printed cheaply at that size, detail turns to mush and thin text goes fuzzy at the edges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We print at a resolution fine enough to hold sharp edges on small text and keep complex flags legible rather than approximate. It’s the kind of thing you don’t consciously notice when it’s done right, and can’t stop noticing when it isn’t. It matters especially if you’re going for something less standard \u2014 a regional flag or a combined two-country design<\/a>, where the detail is the whole point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Quality isn’t only about how long something lasts. It’s also about what happens when you want it gone \u2014 selling the bike, changing your name setup, moving it to a new frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A cheap sticker that’s baked in the sun for two years will come off in fragments, leave a grey ghost of adhesive behind, and take an afternoon and a bottle of solvent to fully clear. Ours is designed to release cleanly with gentle heat, in one piece, without residue and without touching your paint. That’s a real consideration for anyone worried about resale value<\/a>or riding an expensive carbon frame<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our inks are water-based rather than solvent-based. In practice that means no chemical smell on the product when it arrives, no hazardous solvents involved in making it, and a meaningfully lower environmental footprint than traditional solvent printing \u2014 without giving up any of the outdoor durability that solvent inks were traditionally chosen for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How long will my sticker actually last?<\/strong> Years rather than months, under normal riding and cleaning. Our cut-vinyl PLUS option is built on film rated for up to a decade outdoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Will it survive salt water?<\/strong> Yes. Some customers have used ours on scuba tanks, fully submerged in salt water repeatedly over years, with no loss of colour or integrity. Sea air and coastal riding are not a concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Can I pressure wash my bike with the sticker on?<\/strong> Yes, with normal care. Avoid aiming a high-pressure jet directly at the edge of the sticker at close range \u2014 that’s the one thing that will lift any adhesive graphic, however good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Will it fade in the sun?<\/strong> It’s built specifically to resist that: UV-blocking top coat over pigment-based colour. That combination is what fading resistance comes down to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Will it survive degreaser and chain lube?<\/strong> Yes.
