The Alpe d\u2019Huez event listing<\/a> gives 9\u201311 July 2027 with an explicit confirmation caveat. At this update, the UCC organiser\u2019s page<\/a> still displays 2026 information. Check the organiser\u2019s current registration link, edition and conditions before booking non-refundable travel. This guide does not treat old entry prices, schedules or lift passes as 2027 offers.<\/p>\n

What kind of race is Megavalanche?<\/h2>

It is a downhill marathon associated with a mass start high above Alpe d\u2019Huez and a finish in Allemond. The organiser describes the classic glacier start at around 3,330 metres with roughly 2,600 metres of descent. These figures describe the event\u2019s identity, not a guaranteed 2027 route: conditions and the final regulations determine the actual course.<\/p>

Previous editions have used seeding runs to allocate riders to race groups. Do not assume the published historical group sizes, qualifying thresholds or Saturday\/Sunday timetable will apply unchanged in 2027. Use them to understand the format, then follow the new rider instructions.<\/p>\n

Build the trip around riding, not only race day<\/h2>

Write down settings you may need to restore after transport. On arrival, inspect anything removed for packing and do a controlled check ride on an appropriate open trail. Avoid treating the first practice run as a mechanical test.<\/p>\n

Rider preparation and protective equipment<\/h2>

Practise sustained descending on terrain appropriate to your ability, with time to recover between sessions. Work on looking ahead, controlled braking and managing fatigue rather than chasing a fast first run. Coaching can help you identify skills to develop before the trip.<\/p>
