Many model aircraft fall within unmanned-aircraft rules and need an official registration marking. RC aeroplanes, gliders and helicopters can fall within UAS rules. However, do not assume every model worldwide needs the same label. Start with your aviation authority and the rules covering your flying activity. This guide compares the European framework, the UK and the United States; it is not a worldwide flight authorisation.<\/p>\n<h2>Europe: registration and model-flying clubs<\/h2><p>In the EASA framework, registration in the open category is generally required for aircraft of 250 g or more, those capable of transferring more than 80 joules on impact, or those with sensors capturing personal data unless the relevant toy exemption applies. Specific-category operations require operator registration regardless of mass. Display the public operator number where required. Article 16 club authorisations and national arrangements matter: ask your club which framework covers your flight. France also has national aircraft-registration requirements in its association framework; do not confuse an aircraft number with an operator number.<\/p>\n<h2>United Kingdom: Operator ID, not Flyer ID<\/h2><p>The CAA distinguishes the operator\u2019s registration from the pilot\u2019s competence. Under its current open-category guidance, Operator ID is required from 250 g, or from 100 g with a camera. A Flyer ID has different requirements. The Operator ID label must use clear block capitals taller than 3 mm, be on the main body, be secure and protected from damage, and be visible outside or in a compartment accessible without tools. Check any applicable association authorisation separately.<\/p>\n<h2>United States: use the FAA registration number<\/h2><p>The US system uses an FAA registration number, not a European Operator ID. Recreational registration has a small-aircraft weight exemption; Part 107 rules differ. Follow the FAA\u2019s registration and external-marking instructions for your operation. A printed number is not a Remote ID transmitter, and a club membership alone does not establish a Remote ID exemption.<\/p>\n<h2>Which number should you print?<\/h2><p>Copy the public marking from your official registration account. Keep letters, numbers and separators correct. For an EASA operator registration, do not print the three private verification characters added after the public number. Do not substitute a pilot certificate, membership number or someone else\u2019s example. A name-and-flag sticker can complement the official marking but does not replace it.<\/p>\n<h2>Choose and position your Pegatin<\/h2><p>Use the ID personaliser to enter your own public number and review the preview before choosing a pack. BASIC and PRO lettering is 5 mm high; check the full label length and the actual marking requirements for your aircraft. Select a contrasting colour and a suitable smooth surface. Keep the label clear of controls, hinges, ventilation, hot components and existing safety markings. Follow the airframe manufacturer\u2019s surface-care advice. The sticker does not provide registration, training, insurance, flight permission or electronic Remote ID.
